In the last … In the last election less than 45% of electors voted and 47% of these voted PC–this minority vote translated into a large majority of seats in the legislature. I believe that a lot of Albertans have not been represented, a lot of voices have not been part of the dialogue & 1 party has umed to speak on behalf of many for too long now. I believe any party in power 37yrs would be in danger of being stale, lacking vision & arrogant. I’m for vigorous democracy. See Meet Kevin Taft–a leader.
I never said Taft … I never said Taft is JFK or Lincoln – I simply used those leaders as examples to prove my point. The thing is, Taft just doesn’t have any charisma. You can have passion and caring, but without charisma, can you really be a good leader? Think about what makes a good leader. I’m sure Taft’s a nice guy, but I’d rather watch paint dry.
Furthermore, you seem to be uming that just because the Conservatives have been in power for a long time, we should get rid of them. Can you please clarify?
Watch, Meet Kevin … Watch, Meet Kevin Taft & the 2 Alberta Liberal ads that came out this week (as well as edspedia clip on Health Care and tell me that Taft doesn’t communicate passion, vitality, intelligence and caring–no he’s not JFK or Lincoln, he’s Kevin Taft. Really, do you think any of the leaders embody JFK charisma; is the standard that to which you’re holding all the leaders? Let’s just get real & vote for the party & leader most able to awaken Albertans into present time– enough of tired old PCs.
Don’t be daft. A … Don’t be daft. A boring, uncharismatic politician makes a poor leader. As a political leader, a key skill is the ability to sway opinion – Taft does not have that ability due to his lack of personal charisma. The politicians we admire in history had good policies, sure, but they also had amazing charm: Kennedy, Macdonald, Lincoln. Taft doesn’t have that, so de facto he is useless. It may theoretically be nice to “focus on issues”, but in practice it isn’t the only thing that counts.
Yawn…he’s so … Yawn…he’s so boring? Listen to what he is saying. It seems to me that Albertans are so used to living high off the land that we’ve fallen asleep—we don’t care if we have government transparency and accountability and we don’t seem to care about the Alberta we will give to future generations. Kevin Taft is talking about the future of Alberta and most of Albertans could care less. Our only hope is that those who do care, get out and vote.
It is amazing how … It is amazing how the Progressive Conservatives have reigned Alberta for 37 years. The PC Dynasty will not fall. It is a powerful machine and Albertans will not elect a government of the party of a unpopular canadian prime minister
I would like to set … I would like to set the conservative caucus on fire and put it out with an axe, I’ve never seen a bigger political dung heap. However, the Liberals are so uninspired, I’d rather vote for a 2X4. Politics in Alberta is just plain grim.
Billions of dollars … Billions of dollars that we could have used in countless directions. It is time we get a government that will govern for the people.
