Chemistry Gas Law Equation Help?

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 by admin in hyperbaric chamber | 2 Comments »

A hyperbaric chamber is an enclosure containing oxygen at higher-than-normal pressures and used in the treatment of certain heart and circulatory conditions. What volume, in L, of O2(g) from a cylinder at 25.2°C and 155 atm, is required to fill a 4.20 x 103-L hyperbaric chamber to a pressure of 2.88 atm at 17.6°C

Argh! I’m so frustrated here…now what equation do I use here?

Use P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2.

P1 = 155 atm
V1=?
T1= 25.2C+273.15 in Kelvin
P2=2.88 atm
V2=103 L (I am not sure what 4.20 x 103L means, so I ignored the 4.20; if that isn’t right, use the correct volume of the hyperbaric chamber)
T2=17.6C+273.15 in Kelvin.

Solve for V1.

Could "eugenol" be used as a therapeutic agent in asbestosis?

Posted on November 20th, 2009 by admin in hyperbaric chamber | 2 Comments »

"Eugenol" is a chemical found in an extract of cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, and cinnamon that polymerizes to asbestos fibers, neutralizing their toxicity. If administered via positive-pressure breathing apparatus or hyperbaric chamber therapy could it have a potential effect on people suffering from asbestosis?

I doubt it as its the damage the asbestos causes to the cells which causes the asbestosis, not just the asbestos itself. So even if it were possible to remove the fibres the cells would still be severely damaged;

Despite a skin graft, several different antibiotic treatments both oral and topical, and several sessions in a hyperbaric chamber nothing has worked. Can anyone suggest further treatment?

Its been a few days since you asked this question. If you are still having this problem please see a doctor. Good Luck

Why does Raul Ibanez sleep in a hyperbaric chamber?

The guy chews tobacco which is really bad for you yet he sleeps in a hyperbaric chamber…
???

Because he was trying to show you how unrealistic to sign him for multi-year deal and think a 37 years old can perform every game.

was there really an ice atmosphere during the prehistoric era? and also a much higher concentration of oxygen?

Posted on November 2nd, 2009 by admin in hyperbaric chamber | 2 Comments »

because i am pretty sure that there was a higher concentration of oxygen. much like in hyperbaric chambers… which is why all animals were so big.. if there was such a concentration of oxygen today we would prolly be 10 foot tall… but about the ice atmosphere? i mean its enough dinosaurs got to be giant because of the oxygen, but they also were better protected against the sun’s UV rays because of the ice layer in the atmosphere.. this is an outrage if its true

Nope, prehistoric oxygen levels were not higher than today’s level. At most the variance from the current 21 percent (oxygen in the earth’s atmosphere) would be only about two percent. Granted, there was quite a rise in oxygen levels just prior to the Cambrian Explosion which may have helped trigger the increase and rapid diversification of early lifeforms. However, the current level of oxygen is just about the same as the highest prehistoric level.

I am not aware of any information regarding a layer of ice in the prehistoric atmosphere—sorry.

Can anyone tell me exactly all the rumors that were written about michael jackson ?

Tell me all of them except buying the elephant mans bones and sleeping in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber .

pretty much everything that has been said about him was lies…i think MJ started the oxygen chamber rumor for publicity; some claim he gave the media the photo..i try to ignore all that mess

What are hyperbaric chambers used for? Ive heard they can help reduce the aging proces and used for medical?

Posted on October 24th, 2009 by admin in hyperbaric chamber | 2 Comments »

Ive heard they can help reduce the aging process. Is that true or is that just bull? And how are they used for medical reasons? I think i heard they are used like when someone gets burned really bad. Or i dont know something like that.

NO! i am not looking to buy one so please dont say it or any other stupid thing like that. I’m just wonderign what they are for. I tried searching them on Wikipedia but it wouldn’t work.
